At Sea V

This morning it is sunny overhead, misty around the horizon, air temp is 1.5C, sea water temp is -0.6C. The water is much calmer. At breakfast Peg from Ohio says to Lucy from Namibia "you have to give me your cousin's name in Nova Scotia"...turns out that Lucy's cousin and Peg's cousin teach at St. Francis Xavier in the smalltown of Antigonish where my friend Steve also teaches. Small world.

After breakfast we decontaminate. Since we may be carrying seeds etc from South Georgia we have to inspect all our clothes and camera gear again and take them for vaccuuming and washing.

This afternoon we are slated to land at an Argentinian research station in the Ornkeys. There have been 3 whale sightings this morning which I missed but there are sure to be more. But just now I looked up and saw another iceberg out the starboard side. It's definitly feeling more polar. Next up, Laurie our expedition leader is giving a talk on the establishment of the Orcadas reseach station.
